World Elephant Polo Championships 2013

Looking back on 2013.......we finally did it! After 6 years of blood, sweat and a few tears, the Pukka Chukkas lifted their first major trophy, the WEPA Olympic Quaiche!

Meaton, Si Race, Jason Wheeler Gwenni Barrett,Tom Fontaine

Captained throughout the tournament by Simon Race, the Pukkas finally lifted silverware in a hard fought final against the Rusty Kukris, with SImon scoring the decisive goal against the run of play in the second chukka. Michael Eaton scored the winner, rounding off an amazing tournament for him and the team, with a couple of minutes left to play in the final. Gwenni Barrett and Tom Fontaine put their bodies on the line with stalwart defensive against a strong Kukris team, seeing off wave after wave of attacks from Chris Darby and Tristram Forster, who was on board Sandra Kali. Jason Wheeler, the Pukkas founder, cheered himself hoarse (or maybe elephant!) from the touchline after being laid low on the eve of the final, but lifting the quaiche was the best medicine the Chief could have had!
